Thanks for the clarification. I faced similar situation being the Secretary for a short period earlier and unfortunately, my work commitments (in addition being further, work in Singapore) does not allow my full participation. However, I am committed to continue to contribute my however little bit.
My understanding is that participation in Management Committee is vital and since it is held on a monthly or so basis on Saturdays, this may work out for you. I certainly look forward to you coming on board as this would help strengthen the team.

Thank you very much for the invitation to be a Secretary of the Society.
Before I sign the dotted line I wish to have an understanding from the management prior of my own challenges and issues so that at the on-set there is no miscommunication and misunderstanding.
Upon my conversation with Mother, I mentioned to her that I am completing my Doctorate and thus my weekends are taking up my time to complete. I should be freer from November onwards. The organization may be interested in my findings as it will tell you what makes the Gen Y attracted to join a non profit organization.
Secondly, in the coming months there is a possibility of me either moving to another job or taking on an International role which means traveling and commitments.
Thirdly, I am also council and board members and active in other nonprofit and hence there may be a clash of times.
Finally, I am aware of the responsibility of this role and the weightage it carries but if I can have a Terms of Reference, it will help me gauge my commitment because my time needs to be fairly distributed.
I will await the response first.
Thanks and I do hope this email is not seen in a negative light but as a way of ensuring all parties are clear of where I am coming considering I do not know all of you.
